MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 8, 2013 <br />Liquor License fee and On -Sale Wine License fee be increased that same <br />amount. The Clerk noted that On -Sale Sunday and Off -Sale Liquor <br />License fees are regulated by State Law. Staff is recommending no <br />increase in the City's 2 A.M. Liquor License fee or On -Sale and Off -Sale <br />3.2 Intoxicating Malt Liquor License fees. <br />Blesener noted that the 1.97% increase would result in an On -Sale Liquor <br />License increase from $4,372 to $4,458 and On -Sale Wine License <br />increase from $632 to $644. It was noted that the gross levy increase for <br />2012 was 0 %; therefore, there was no increase in 2012. <br />There was no one from the general public present wishing to comment on <br />this matter. <br />Upon motion by Keis, seconded by Boss, the public hearing was closed. <br />Keis introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2013 -5-76 — INCREASING THE ON -SALE <br />LIQUOR LICENSE FEE AND ON -SALE WINE LICENSE FEE FOR <br />JULY 1, 2013 THROUGH UNE 30, 2014 LICENSE PERIOD BY 1.97% <br />AS RECOMMENDED BY CITY STAFF <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McGraw. <br />Ayes (5). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />LITTLE Don Smiley, Little Canada Fire Department Chief, along with the Fire <br />CANADA Department's Board of Directors appeared before the Council to present <br />FIRE DEPT. the City with a donation to be used for future fire equipment purchases. <br />EQUIPMENT Smiley reported that the Little Canada Fire Department was formed in <br />FUND 1945 and has raised money through charitable gambling for equipment <br />DONATION purchases since 1947 when it began conducting bingo in the basement of <br />the old fire hall. Smiley reported that through this effort the Fire <br />Department has been able to provide training opportunities for firefighters, <br />purchase state of the art fire equipment, and keep contract costs at a <br />minimum. <br />Smiley reported that in 2010, the Little Canada Fire Department made a <br />commitment to donate 50% of its annual gambling proceeds to the City for <br />fire equipment purchases. Smiley and the Board of Directors presented <br />the City with a check in the amount of $101,018.42. He indicated that the <br />Department's intention was to make a donation of 50% of gambling <br />proceeds to the City on an annual basis. <br />2 <br />
