MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 14, 2006
The Administrator noted that the City is in the process of contract
negotiations with the haulers. He pointed ouC that refuse collection rates
have been frozen for the past five years. Given increasing fuel costs, he is
anticipating a rate increase for refuse collection. However, a portion of
fuel increases is offset by a decrease in disposal costs at the County level.
The Administrator also noted that going to single-sort recycling has the
potential to increase costs as well.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO.2006-6-133 -SUPPORTING SINGLE-SORT
RECYCLING ON THE BASIS OF FAVORABLE CONTRACT
NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE CITY'S REFUSE HAULERS
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Montour.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0).
