MINUTES <br />City Council <br />I May 26, 1982 <br />Ordinance <br />No. 182 <br />(Cont.) <br />Proposed <br />Ordinance <br />No. 183 - <br />Signs <br />Agenda <br />Item No 12 <br />The foregoing ordinance was duly seconded by Mr. Hanson. <br />Ayes (5) Forsberg, Hanson, Scalze, Fahey, Nardini. <br />Nayes (0). <br />Ordinance declared adopted. <br />Mayor Hanson opened the public hearing on proposed Ordinance No. 183 <br />which is the proposed amendment of the Little Canada zoning ordinance <br />to permit freestanding signs to be located within five feet of the <br />property line. <br />Mr. Forsberg introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 82 -5 -297 - CLOSING THE PUBLIC <br />HEARING ON PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 183 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Hanson. <br />Ayes (5) Forsberg, Hanson, Scalze, Nardini, Fahey. <br />Nayes (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 8, Page 249. <br />The City Planner stated that he recommended the amendment to the zoning <br />code to permit freestanding signs within five feet of the property line <br />rather than 15 as currently required under the City code. <br />Mr. Forsberg introduced the following ordinance and moved its adoption: <br />ORDINANCE N0. 183 - AMENDING SECTION 903.110 E. 5.c (1) <br />AND (2) ALLOWING BUSINESS SIGNS TO BE LOCATED CLOSER <br />TO PROPERTY LINES AND PARKING AREAS <br />The foregoing ordinance was duly seconded by Mr. Fahey. <br />Ayes (4) Forsberg, Fahey, Hanson, Nardini. <br />Nayes (1) Scalze. <br />Ordinance declared adopted. <br />Mrs. Scalze informed the Council that she opposed this ordinance as <br />there may be a situation where a property line is located in the middle <br />of the street. <br />Mr. Forsberg stated that in that case the sign would have to be located <br />five feet from the right -of -way. <br />The Planner stated that this type of situation is covered under definition <br />of a lot line. In this type of situation the property line would become <br />the street or alley right -of -way. <br />Mrs. Scalze commented that a right -of -way line could be in the middle of <br />the street. Mrs. Scalze commented in the case of Noel Drive, the right- <br />of -way line is in the middle of the street. <br />)v:, O(,) <br />
