r
MINUTES
Planning Commission
Dec. 1, 1983
A -3 Text
Amendment
(Cont.)
Mr. Crittman reported that the business is compatible with the others
that are already allowed in a B -3 zone.
Mrs. Timmons asked if the Commission and Council passed this if they
would be opening B -3 up to full —scale commercial printing.
Mr. Crittman replied that it would not as it would be conditional
use and the City would have the power over what comes in.
Mrs. Timmons recommended approval of the request by St. Croix Screen
Printing for a text amendment for the B -3 zoning district to provided
for a combined retail and commercial printing business.
?lotion seconded by Mr. DeLonais.
Motion carried 6 — 0.
Little Canada Mr. Tom Krejci appeared before the Commission requesting approval of
Day Care a single story — addition to the east of the 1953 -1954 building of the
Addition Little Canada Day Care facility.
Mrs. Timmons asked if Mr. Krejci still planned to add another story
to this portion of the building. Mr. Krejci stated that these plans
were on the backburner due to financing.
Mrs. Timmons stated that the Commission previously granted approval
of this and stated that if plans develop for this addition of a
second story, approval would probably he needed again.
Mr. French asked if the addition would match the appearance of the
existing building. Mr. Krejci replied that it would.
Mr. DeLonais asked if there was enough parking on the site. Mr. Krejci
stated that the Planner has indicated that he is 12 parking spaces
short, however, he feels this is a mistake. Krejci reported that when
he was originally considering office space, he was told he had adequate
parking and this requires more parking than a day care facility.
Mr. DeLonais asked about plans for landscaping. Mr. Krejci replied that
there would he landscaping. Mr. Krejci reported that his proposal
complies with State requirements for day care and open space.
Mrs. Timmons asked Mr. Krejci if he would have to go through additional
licensing procedures with the State for more children. Mr. Krejci
reported that he would and the State requirements were very rigid.
Mrs. Timmons asked if parking for the handicapped would be provided.
Mr. Krejci replied that the plans are designed with this in mind
and pointed out that the addition is one— story.
Mrs. Scaize stated that it was her understanding that the building would
have to be sprinklered.
Page —4—
