MIDIUTES <br />September 1, 1983 <br />Ripke Property The Planner reported that the Melvin Ripke property division was just <br />Division a straight- forward division. <br />Mrs. Timmons recommended approval of the Ripke division as submitted <br />and in compliance with the Planner's report. <br />Motion seconded by Mr. Ducharme. <br />Motion carried 7 - 0. <br />Manufactured Mrs. Timmons reported that she received a call from Mrs. Scalze with <br />Homes regard to the manufactured homes issue. Mrs. Scalze indicated that the <br />Council read the Maplewood ordinance and felt it was shortand to the <br />point. <br />Mrs. Timmons indicated that she informed Scalze that the Planning <br />Commission felt that they did not have all the information they <br />needed to draft an ordinance and the Planner had indicated to them <br />they need not he in a rush to adopt an ordinance. <br />Mrs. Timmons commented that tars. Scalze indicated that she would <br />inform the Council of the Commission's wish to see if any test <br />cases come forth and that the Commission does not feel Little Canada <br />should he one of the first cities to adopt such an ordinance. <br />Mrs. Timmons also indicated to Scalze that the Commission would <br />like to get an opinion from the City Attorney on this. <br />The Council has put a moratorium on all mohilehomes outside of the <br />mohilehome zoning and Scalze indicated that perhaps the moratorium <br />should he continued and the matter kept under advisement. <br />Mrs. Timmons asked the Planner the number of cities that have adopted <br />such an ordinance. The Planner replied about 25 %, but 50% of the <br />Metro cities. The Planner felt the City should not act until more <br />information comes along. <br />Mr. DeLonais indicated that the Commission has another 60 days to <br />act. <br />The Planner reported that the ruling came from the State Legislature <br />which stated that manufactured housing qualifies as single family. <br />Mohilehornes now qualify under Building Codes. <br />Mrs. Timmons asked what would happen if the City put restrictions on <br />the type of siding and how this would effect existing homes that might <br />be substandard. The Planner commented that this would not effect <br />existing homes. <br />Page -4- <br />
