r-
MINUTES
Planning Commission
Oct. 6, 1983
Armon Plaza
Sign
Mr. Ducharme felt that the address sign was important just for
emergency identification purposes alone.
Mrs. Kingsbury questioned why Mr. Vitale was not present. Mrs.
Timmons pointed out that the owners of the Little Canada Mall
appeared before the Commission on their sign requests.
Mr. Notto pointed out that there is identification on the front
of the building.
Mr. Stern reported that the pylon sign was discussed as part of
the rental agreement between Mr. Notto and Mr. Vitale subject
to City approval. Mr. Stern reported that traditionally Realty
World is identified by a free - standing sign.
Mrs. Timmons pointed out that if the address sign and the pylon
were combined together, a conditional use permit would not be
needed.
Mr. Notto pointed out that Mr. Vitale feels very strongly that he
needs the address sign.
Mrs. Timmons suggested that Mr. Motto go hack to the owner and try
to work something out. Timmons informed Mr. Motto that the City
has tried to clean up signs in the City.
Mr. Grittman stated that the ordinance stated that no more than
1 pylon or a combination of two signs is allowed. Grittman stated
that if the square footage is within the allowable amount, the pylon
would be O.K.
Ur. DeLonais stated that if he is figuring correctly, 54 square feet
would be allowed for the pylon.
Mrs. Kingsbury pointed out that according to the Planner's report
the pylon would not be allowed. Mr. Grittman stated that this was
because of the total square footage, but two signs would be allowed.
Mrs. Kingsbury asked if Mr. Notto was agreeable to putting the
address on his sign. Mr. Notto stated that he would be agreeable
to this, but Mr. Vitale would not he. Mr. Stern commented that the
sign could be redesigned to incorporate the address.
Mr. Notto stated that it was his impression that Mr. Vitale wanted
his address sign more than he wanted his building rented out.
Mr. French pointed out that Mr. Motto or :1r. Vitale could reduce
the size of their signs. Mr. Stern stated that if the reader hoard
were eliminated, they would he within the square footage allowed.
Mrs. Timmons pointed out that there were ways to come within the
ordinace without the need for a conditional use permit.
Page -4-
