month or major fraction thereof of active service by all regular employees <br />pursuant to the following schedule: <br />For Employees hired on or before October 14, 1981: <br />Length of Employment Leave Days <br />1 to 5 years <br />6 to 10 years <br />11 years to end of service <br />10 work days <br />15 work days <br />20 work days <br />For Employees hired on or after October 14, 1981: <br />1 to 8 years <br />9 to 15 years <br />16 years to end of service <br />10 work days <br />15 work days <br />20 work days <br />(C) No employee shall accrue vacation credit during any period of <br />suspension, lay off, leave of absence or other off — payroll status. <br />(D) Permanent part time employees shall accrue pro —rata vacation leave <br />credit in accordance with Section 209.110(B) and based on the average number <br />of hours worked by such employee per week in accordance with the following <br />schedule: <br />Average Hours Worked Rate of Vacation Accrual <br />Less than 20 <br />20 — 23 <br />24 or more <br />0 <br />1/2 of Sec. 209.110(B) accrual rate <br />3/5 of Sec. 209.110(B) accrual rate <br />(E) Employees may accumulate vacation leave to a maximum or ten (10) <br />working days, and carry over such maximum of ten (10) days vacation from one <br />calendar year to another. <br />(F) Employees shall take vacations only with the approval of their <br />immediate supervisor. Requests for vacation leave shall be approved in <br />writing by the Department Head. <br />(G) Vacations may be taken with concurrence of Department Heads at any <br />time during the calendar year, to a maximum of three (3) days beyond the <br />accrued leave. Should an employee leave the employ of the City before <br />accruing vacation leave equal to that used, such deficit will be withheld from <br />any monies due such employee, at the rate of one hour's pay for each hour of <br />vacation leave deficit, computed on the employee's current hourly pay rate. <br />Advance payment for vacation leave to employees may not exceed the total <br />vacation pay earned. <br />(H) Where vacations are specified in days, it shall be construed to mean <br />the normal eight (8) hour working day, and where any employee works other <br />hours or shifts, adjustments shall be made accordingly. <br />
