24 January 1983 Page Two
- We finally suggested that they allow one permit per resident
per year with funerals as possible exceptions.
o Take no action - there were those (especially D. Forsberg, who lives
on Edgerton) who felt that if neighbors cooperated (e.g. allow each
other to park in their yards, driveways, etc.)that on- street parking
was not necessary.
Liability:
o Insurance agent said the City would be no more liable than they are
right now - insurance would still cover.
o Subsequent discussion with City Attorney - he suggested the insurance
company put that in writing.
County Input:
o They have no policy guidelines.
o They would handle the issuing of permits if requested by the City.
o City could turn over control of the problem to the County.
o They are unwilling to deal with requests from individuals - groups are
okay.
o They sent a subsequent letter - check with Joe Chlebeck.
o My impression was that they really didn't want anything to do with
the matter.
Council Action:
o At their 26 January meeting, the Council simply turned over approval
of temporary parking permits to Joe Chlebeck.
o They will try this for six months to see how much of a problem there
will be.
cc: Joe Chlebeck
2
