MINUTES <br />Planning Commission <br />March 9, 1953 <br />Senior Citizen Mr. Rocheford reported that he has submitted the plans to the <br />Housing City Planner and City Clerk and only two items require action. <br />That is one additional parking space is needed and a small <br />corner of the property needs to he rezoned. <br />The Planner stated that in addition to the enlargement of the <br />parking lot area, a submission of landscape plans and approval <br />of the drainage is required. <br />The Planner reported that he has no major problem with the plan. <br />The Planner also stated that the site is being pursued by the <br />City for Community Development Block Grant funding. The Planner <br />recommended approval of the plan. <br />Mrs. Timmons asked the largest number of u its the City could have. <br />Mr. Rocheford replied that the HUD application showed that they <br />would consider funding of 40 units. The City got a commitment for <br />41 units. <br />The Planner asked Mr. Rocheford if he has filed an application for <br />the rezoning of the property. Mr. Rocheford replied th.,t he has <br />not. The Planner suggested that this be done right away so that <br />notices can go out on the hearing. <br />Mr. Vitale asked the current zoning of the property that needs rezoning. <br />Mr. Rocheford replied that it is zoned industrial. <br />Mr. Costa asked the amount of property for the housing site. Mr. <br />Rocheford replied that there is 1.43 acres. Mr. Rocheford reported <br />that the building covers about 16.9% of the total site not including <br />the parking lot. <br />Mr. Costa asked how much green area the site will include. Rocheford <br />replied that approximately 20% will be green area. There will also <br />he a patio area. Mrs. Timmons asked if there will he walkways or <br />paths on the site. Mr. Rocheford stated that there is not that much <br />property involved for walkways or paths of a formal nature. <br />Mrs. Kingsbury asked if the green area will be accessible to the <br />handicapped. Mr. Rocheford replied that the total building will <br />he accessible to the handicapped. <br />Mr. Costa asked the age requirements for this housing. Mr. Rocheford <br />replied that the head of the household must be 62 years of age or <br />older and all disabled or handicapped would be eligible. <br />Mr. Vitale asked if the mentally handicapped would he eligible for <br />this housing. Mr. Rocheford replied that they would be, but that <br />this is independent living. Mr. Licht replied that typically you <br />would not see the mentally handicapped in this type of facility. <br />Page —2— <br />
