MINUTES
Planning Commission
October 13, 1988
Centerville
Road Area
Park (Cont.)
Sanders pointed out that he was trying to make the parking lots as
convenient to thehallfields as possible.
Frattalone reported that he would like to see the parking lots located
behind the Quality Blacktop property.
Sanders pointed out that the parking lots will need to be policed,
and a remote location could become a problem.
DeLonais suggested that the parking lot on the DeSoto side could be
moved further south.
Costa felt that the screening proposed on the south end of the park
really served no purpose other than to soften the view of the garages.
Wehrle pointed out that there is a driveway behind the Montreal Courts
garages.
DeLonais felt that a fence would be needed on the southern boundary of
the park.
Sanders agreed.
Costa felt the entire park needed to be fenced to control access in and
out of the park. Costa again stated that he did not want people cutting
through his land to access the park. Costa pointed out that this is
already happening without a park.
Davison asked if the trail system in the park will connect with other
trails in the City.
Sanders replied that eventually the City's trail systems will be
connected.
Herkenhoff asked what the central building will be used for.
Sanders replied that there will be restrooms, storage space for equipment,
concessions in the central building. Sanders reported that the building
is proposed at 40 feet by 40 feet and will probably be a block building
with a brick face.
Wehrle reported that there will be room for expansion of the building
should that become necessary in the future.
The Planner asked when park improvements would begin.
Sanders anticipated that grading and seeding of the park would be done
in the spring. Then the City will have to decide if there is adequate
money for development of the ballfields.
Sanders estimated that the total development of the park could be a 5 -year
project or better.
Page 8
