MINUTES
Planning Commission
October 13, 1988
Centerville Sanders pointed out that the passive area of the park is oriented towards
Road Area the east with more active recreation towards the west.
Park (Cont.)
DeLonais felt that fencing would be necessary of the park property.
Sanders suggested that some type of barrier could be created without
going to a chain -link fence. Sanders suggested that he explore
various options and also prepare some drawings showing how the parking
lots could be bermed and screened.
Costa stated that he might consider the parking lot as shown if it is
bermed and screened adequately, however, at this point was against the
parking lot in its present location.
Sanders reported that he is trying to retain the natural area in the
northwest corner of the property.
Wehrle pointed out that if the parking lot was located adjacent to the
Montreal Courts garages, people parking in the lots would have a long
distance to walk to the ballfields.
Costa felt this was not a drawback to locating the parking lots near
the garages.
Sanders reported that the Park Commission will be holding a public
hearing on October 20th to present the park plan to the surrounding
property owners.
DeLonais suggested that the Centerville Road parking lot could switch
locations with the tennis courts.
Sanders pointed out that it is preferable to have the parking lot close
to the soccer field.
Herkenhoff asked if the fields would be lighted.
Sanders replied that this decision has not been made as of yet.
Costa asked the cost of grading the property.
Sanders estimated the cost at $50,000 for grading and a total of $115,000
for grading and seeding, but pointed out that this is a very preliminary
estimate.
Sanders also reported that the City has been offered a donation of trees,
and these could be planted in the park to get a good start on the
landscaping.
The Commission thanked Wehrle and Sanders for their presentation.
Page 9
