MINUTES <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />OCTOBER 12, 2006 <br />Knudsen recommended approval of the St. Jude Medical Comprehensive <br />Sign Plan modifications as recommended by the City Planner. <br />Motion seconded by McGraw. <br />Motion carried 7 - 0. <br />AMEND Patricia Ringh, Arrow Design, appeared before the Commission <br />PUD FOR requesting approval of an Amendment to the Planned Unit Development <br />SIGNAGE - for additional signage at Shurgard Self Storage. Ringh reported that <br />55 COUNTY Shurgard Self Storage is making some signage modifications Co their <br />ROAD BEAST - property at 55 County Road B East in order to update signage consistent <br />SHURGARD with their corporate branding. Ringh noted that some of the signage <br />SELF changes involve sign face replacement. However, Shurgard is asking <br />STORAGE for two additional signs, one on the west elevation of the property and the <br /> other on the south elevation. <br />Ringh explained the new sign on the west elevation (identified as N01 in <br />the signage diagrams) is an additional wall sign that is internal to the <br />property. <br />Ringh explained that Che second new sign (N02) will be visible from <br />County Road B. One other significant change is that the existing Shurgard <br />identification on the building's west elevation (E02) will be removed and <br />replaced with a band sign (also shown on E02) that states "Truck Rentals <br />8c Moving Supplies". The N02 signage will also be on this same <br />elevation. <br />The City Planner indicated that staff has no concern with the face changes <br />proposed for the four existing signs. The Planner also indicated that the <br />band sign (E02) is also acceptable. The Planner explained the two new <br />signs. The E02 sign is proposed for the building's south elevation and is <br />internal to the site. The second new sign (N02) is a business identification <br />sign that will have visibility from County Road B. The Planner pointed <br />out ChaC the business has a freestanding sign on County Road B that serves <br />as a business identification sign. The Planner felt that the additional wall <br />sign (N02) did not appear necessary. <br />Knudsen suggested that the N02 sign and the E02 sign be combined into <br />one sign. <br />Ringh reported that the existing wall sign facing County Road B consists <br />of 124 square feet.
