MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JUNE 12, 2013 <br />in the City. Part of that project involved the installation of an underground <br />infiltration pond. The project is not completed. The Superintendent <br />reported that the City continues its education program via its newsletter <br />and web site relative to keeping grass clippings and leaves, etc. out of the <br />storm sewer system. The Superintendent reported that the City received <br />600 hits on its storm water page on the web site. <br />The Superintendent reported that the City received no warnings of <br />violations relative to storm water management as part of construction <br />projects. He indicated that the City's ordinances and storm sewer map are <br />up -to -date. Inspections were conducted of pollution control devices, and <br />maintenance was done on some. 18 of 57 outfalls were inspected, as were <br />6 of 30 ponds in the City. <br />The Superintendent reported that the City welcomes comments from City <br />residents, and asked if the Council had any questions on the 2012 SWPPP. <br />Keis asked about the blue /green algae problem that previously occurred in <br />Round Lake. The Superintendent reported that the Watershed is <br />addressing that issue, and stated that he would contact the Watershed for <br />more information and then would update the Council. <br />Blesener pointed out the seeds from trees dropping in the street. The <br />Superintendent reported that the City just completed its spring street <br />sweeping. He reported that the City of Falcon Heights has the sweeper <br />next week. Once it returns to Little Canada another sweeping will occur. <br />The Superintendent reported that studies show that street sweeping is a <br />good means of protecting ponds and lakes. He indicated that all City <br />streets were swept three times during 2012. <br />The Superintendent reported that a new MPCA permit will be required for <br />2014, and indicated that there may be some program changes as a result of <br />new permit requirements. <br />Blesener asked about rain water garden maintenance. The Superintendent <br />reported that the Watershed is maintaining these gardens on a trial basis. <br />There were no other comments or questions relative to the 2012 SWPPP. <br />Upon motion by Keis, seconded by Boss, the public hearing was closed. <br />Montour introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2013 -6 -97 — ACCEPTING THE 2012 STORM <br />WATER POLLUTION PREVENTION PROGRAM REPORT AS <br />SUBMITTED BY THE PUBLIC WORKS SUPERINTENDENT <br />2 <br />
