MINUTES
Planning Commission
Dec. 6, 1984
Other
Business
(Cont.)
Mrs. Timmons pointed out the difficult time that the Planning
Commission is having with getting information out of the City offices
for Commission meetings. Mrs. Timmons requested that the Council
liaison to the office staff attend a Planning Commission meeting so
that this can be discussed.
Mrs. Timmons also expressed concern about the popcorn wagon that is doing
business in front of the new Becker's Outlet location.
Mrs. Kingsbury stated that it appears that temporary signs are all
over the City and staying up permanently. The Planner explained
the recent amendment to the ordinance on temporary signs.
Mr. Costa asked the status of the proposal for ball fields on the
Auge property.
Mrs. Zoch expressed concern that there are parties and drinking going on
in the hack of their property along with the area becoming a dumping
site. Mr. Zoch requested that barricades be put up on South Owasso
and between his property and the Bougie property to keep people out
of this area. The Park Commission would
also like to purchase property for additional ballfields for the City.
Mr. DeLonais stated that he felt that the people in the City should
be able to have a say in the purchase of additional property for
ballfields. DeLonais stated that when ballfields are developed,
beer usually goes along with it.
Mr. Costa questioned how the City could take 16 or 20 acres of prime
industrial land off the tax rolls.
Mrs. Zoch did not feel that the property that had been considered was
prime industrial land because of the high water table. Costa pointed
out that Mr. Lee took had property and turned it into an industrial park.
Mrs. Zoch stated that ballfields at the schools are becoming harder and
harder to use. Zoch also pointed out that there is a high demand for
fields in the City. Zoch felt that additional fields were needed for
the children in Little Canada.
Mrs. Timmons agreed that the ball program in Little Canada has been
very successful and it is very difficult to find fields to play on in
the summer.
Mr. Costa stated that when he drives by Spooner Park during the day
there is no one playing on the fields. Costa questioned the need
Page -6-
