MEMORANDUM
TO: Little Canada Planning Commission
FROM: David Licht
DATE: 3 May 1984
NORTHWEST ASSOCIATED CONSULTANTS
RE: Little Canada Zoning Ordinance Revision - Incorporated
Ore in Ten Duplex sue 4820 Minnetonka Boulevard, Suite 420
FILE NO: 758.09 Mpls., Mn. 55416 612/925 -9420
At their meeting on 25 April, the City Council extended the moritorium on the
one in ten duplex provision of the Zoning Ordinance for 60 days. The Council
was, however, explicit that they want a recommendation on this matter from
the Planning Commission at the May 10th meeting.
The issue breaks down into several fundamental questions.
1. Should the existing ordinance provision be left in tact?
2. If allowing duplexes in an R -1 zone, should lot size be increased?
3. If duplexes are not acceptable, are "limited" "mother -in -law" apartments
an alternative?
4. Should lot sizes for new duplexes in the R -7 District and throughout
the Ordinance be increased.
I will run down the Roseville duplex information which Mrs. Kingsbury requested
and have it available at the meeting.
Prior to the meeting, please contact me should you have questions or wish to
discuss this matter further.
cc: Joseph Chlebeck
Ed Locke Mir F I
Tom Sweeney
- MAY 4 1984
CITY OF
LITTLE—CANADA
105
