MINUTES <br />Planning Commission <br />March 8, 1984 <br />Nardini <br />Rezoning <br />(Cont.) <br />Mr. Villeaux pointed out the problems that were occurring at the corner <br />ofDemont and Rice Street. Mr. Villeaux stated that he would not object <br />if a business went in that fit into the neighborhood. <br />Mrs. Nardini stated that anyone interested in the property wants it <br />rezoned. <br />Mrs. Peterson stated that they have approached the City about rezoning <br />their property hack to R -1, out this was rejected. <br />Villeaux stated that the City feels the property is more valuable as <br />8 -3. <br />Mrs. Nardini pointed out that there are For Sale signs on Park Street, <br />and there will be 8 -3 development going i.n there. <br />Mrs. Timmons stated that when the residences sell, they will probably <br />sell their property as 8 -3. Mr. Villeaux disagreed. <br />Mr. DeLonais stated that Mrs.Peterson andMSr. Villeaux want something <br />nice on the adjacent property. <br />Mrs. Kingsbury asked if a barcould go on the property. Kingsbury <br />asked if the City could control the number of bars in a certain area. <br />'4r. Grittman stated that the City controls the number of liquor <br />licenses issued. <br />Nardini pointed out that there are no liquor licenses available. <br />Mrs. Peterson felt the property was a poor place for a business with <br />a lot of traffic. Peterson felt that it was a good location for an <br />office building. <br />Mrs. Timmons agreed that this was the worst corner in the City and <br />stated that she could understand the concern of the neighbors. <br />Nardini stated that she cannot sell the property as R -2. Nardini <br />also stated that the people who are interested in the property will <br />not say what their plans are. Nardini stated that she did not feel <br />it was nut of line to request that this spot zoning go back to 8 -3. <br />Mr. Herkenhoff asked if it were possible to find out what the <br />prospective buyers were planning. Mrs. Nardini stated that it was not <br />Mrs. Timmons felt that the situation would he different if the property <br />abutted R -1. Timmons stated that the rezoning will eliminate the spot <br />zoning. <br />Peterson pointed out that the original zoning of her property was R -1. <br />Pay' — <br />
