MINUTES
Planning Commission
August 10, 1989
Larry Hartman, neighboring property owner, reported on the
tresspassing problems that occurred during construction of
Slumberland. Hartman was also concerned about the condition
of the site and reported on semi noise during the middle of
the night at the Slumberland site. Hartman informed the
Commission that he reported this noise problem to the City
as well as Slumberland and it took two to three months to
get the problem resolved.
Costa reported that Slumberland has not lived up to the
City's expectations. Costa asked who is responsible for the
maintenance of the holding pond and its banks.
The City Planner pointed out that the recommendations in his
report addresses screening and landscaping.
Diane Hartman pointed out that her home faces the south side
of the Slumberland building and she is forced to look at
concrete, weeds and junk. Hartman felt that the Slumberland
site will be a disgrace to the park that the City is
constructing in the area since the park will face such an
eyesore.
Owen Hyland, property owner in the area, stated that he was
opposed to the storage of semi - trailers on the Slumberland
site.
Drabik asked if the City's noise ordinance addressed the
problem of noisy truck traffic to the Slumberland site.
The Planner replied that it did not.
Costa stated that he was of the impression that the area was
to be an exclusive industrial park. Costa questioned the
outside storage of semis on the site and suggested that
provision be made for inside unloading.
Hartman reported that the condition of the Slumberland site
lowers property values in the area.
Terry Vitale, property owner in the area, pointed out that
the City had intended the area to develop as an industrial
park with a campus -type setting. Vitale stated that there
was to be some buffering provided by Slumberland to the
residential homes in the area, and Vitale felt that
Slumberland has not been a good neighbor.
Page -8-
