MINUTES
Planning Commission
august 10, 1989
Hyland also pointed out that the semi - trailers were to be
screened.
The City Planner reported that a conditional use permit is
required for the outdoor parking of semi - trailers on the
site, and currently there is not a valid CUP for
Slumberland. Slumberland has now made application for a
CUP, and must meet the requirements of the ordinance with
regard to fencing and screening.
Costa asked how many trailers Slumberland is proposing to
store on the site.
Kaufman reported that Slumberland owns two semi - trailers and
would occasionally store some trailers for their vendors.
Costa asked if it were possible to store the trailers
inside.
The Planner stated that the purpose of the ordinance was to
restrict the number of trailers that could be stored on the
site and also to require screening for those that are
stored. There are a variety of ways that the trailers could
be screened such as berming or planting of trees.
Drabik pointed out that Slumberland's track record has not
been good, and suggested that the concerns raised tonight
should be addressed before Slumberland is allowed to proceed
with their application.
The Planner pointed out that Slumberland will be required to
submit a landscaping plan as well as a performance bond to
cover the cost of installation of landscaping. If
Slumberland does not follow through with the plan, the City
can then cash the bond and have the work done.
Vitale asked who would police the situation, pointing out
that Slumberland has never completed their original
landscaping.
The Planner replied that the requirement of a bond or letter
of credit will ensure that the landscaping is completed.
Costa also pointed out that the holding pond is a mess and
the banks should be cleaned up.
DeLonais pointed out that Yorkton Ltd. may be responsible
for the holding pond.
Page -9-
