MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
September 14, 1989
Schweizer agreed, pointing out that a wall had a more
industrial look.
Pedersen pointed out that at the last Commission
meeting certain areas of concern were discussed, and
the burden was placed on Slumberland and Yorkton to
resolve these issues. Pedersen asked if either
Slumberland or Yorkton had some solutions to present
tonight.
Kaufman stated that he was of the impression that the
landscape plan submitted would meet the City's
requirements, and it is apparant from the discussion
that it is not adequate. Kaufman reported that Yorkton
prepared the plan and this evening is the first he has
seen it.
Pedersen felt that the landscape plan was inadequate
and that other areas of concern raised at the last
meeting had not been addressed. Pedersen felt that
action should be tabled until a serious solution is
presented.
Bendel felt that Slumberland has made a good -faith
effort, and felt that Slumberland has been let down by
Yorkton. Bendel suggested that the Commission
communicate exactly what it needs to Mr. Kaufman.
Pedersen agreed that some effort has been made, but the
proposal is not complete enough. Pedersen again
suggested the matter be tabled.
Bendel pointed out that the City will require a bond
from the developer and the City also has the leverage
of withholding a building permit until all concerns are
addressed satisfactorily.
Pedersen felt the Planning Commission should have more
detailed plans before it takes action on the proposal.
Schweizer felt that there should be some communication
between Slumberland and Yorkton.
Costa asked why Yorkton was allowed to dump the
concrete at the site without a permit.
Moravetz reported that he asked the Building Inspector
to look at the concrete, however, this has not been
done. Moravetz felt that someone needed to address
Page 5
