MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
September 14, 1989
Slumberland site during the last week. Moravetz stated
that he was of the impression that the area was to be
cleaned up and now additional debris has been brought
in.
Drabik pointed out that there is other debris besides
concrete that was to be cleaned up and is still there.
Costa stated that he did not think that the ground up
concrete was a good use as Kaufman described.
Moravetz reported that the concrete is full of rebar.
Stanke reported that the ground concrete could be used
under the parking lot, but Building Codes would not
allow it to be used under the building addition itself.
Brent Thompson, Yorkton Ltd., reported that the ground
concrete would be used under the parking lot and not
the building. Thompson reported that the proposal is
to grind the concrete at the site. It is thought that
the grinding process would take three days.
Costa pointed out that there have been no efforts made
to conceal the loading dock areas. Costa pointed out
that the I -P District was to be a high -class area, and
he did not feel that is what the City is getting in
terms of the Slumberland development. Costa questioned
that outside loading of trucks is allowed in the I -P
District.
DeLonais reported that the Economic Development
Committee is discussing future development of the land
to the south of Slumberland, and he did not feel that
storage of semi - trucks should be allowed.
Drabik stated that she was of the impression that
Slumberland was to submit a plan for screening to the
Commission this evening. Drabik stated that she sees
no such plan.
DeLonais pointed out that there was discussion at the
last meeting about a wall to screen the truck dock
area.
The City Planner pointed out that the ordinance allows
for a variety of ways to screen, either by a wall,
fencing, landscaping or a combination. The Planner
felt that landscaping provided the most attractive
screening method.
Page 4
