MINUTES CITY COUNCIL JUNE 26, 2013 CONSENT AGENDA LITTLE CANADA ROAD IMPROVEMENT Ms. Boss introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 2013 -6 -117 - APPROVING THE CONSENT AGENDA WHICH CONTAINS THE FOLLOWING: *APPROVAL OF THE VOUCHERS; *AMENDMENT FEE SCHEDULE RELATIVE TO ELECTRICAL PERMIT FEES; *AWARD BID FOR 2013 SEALCOATING WORK AS RECOMMENDED BY THE PUBLIC WORKS SUPERINTENDENT; *APPROVAL OF APPLCIATION TO CONDUCT OFF -SITE GAMBLING DURING CANADIAN DAYS — CANADIAN DAYS COMMITTEE The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Montour. Ayes (5). Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. The City Administrator reviewed the City Engineer's report dated June 26, 2013 relative to bid results for the Little Canada Road Improvement. The Administrator reported that only two bids were received, with the low bid submitted by FPI Paving Contractors in the amount of $1,115,705.10 for the base bid and a bid of $38,408.00 for the Alternate Bid for sidewalk on the north side of Little Canada Road to improve an existing trail access. The Administrator reported that the City has an understanding with the County relative to this project, with the County paying approximately 80% of project costs and the City paying 20 %. The City Engineer's estimate was $1,033,000. Based on the bid results, the City's estimated share of the cost has increased to 28% due to the cost components we are responsible for. The Administrator noted that the Engineer's recommendation is that the bid not be awarded at this time. The City has yet to receive the Cooperative Cost Share Agreement from the County. There has also been some indication from the County that they will not proceed with signal work on the Little Canada Road bridge, although they had verbally made that commitment to the City. The Administrator reported that there is concern in starting the project given that work will extend beyond when school starts in the fall. 10
