MINUTES CITY COUNCIL JUNE 26, 2013 The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McGraw. Ayes (5). Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. CUL -DE -SAC Blesener opened the Public hearing to consider an Amendment to the LENGTH Subdivision Code relative to cul -de -sac length. It was noted that the Planning Commission recommended approval of this amendment as proposed by the City Planner. The City Planner reported that the City's Subdivision Ordinance had been amended a few years ago to allow for cul -de -sac length longer than 500 feet in situations where additional natural resources would be preserved without negatively impacting public safety. The Planner reported that it is staff's opinion that this language is a little too narrow. He noted that given remaining subdividable land in the City, it is staff's recommendation that this language be broadened while still maintaining the Council's discretion on whether or not to allow a longer cul -de -sac. He also pointed out that this provision in the Ordinance could not he utilized by developers who were merely looking for ways to increase log count. Blesener noted that the current provision was put in place about 4 or 5 years ago in order to address the unique parcels that were left to develop. He indicated that he supported the amendment given that the Council retains the discretion as to whether or not to allow for cul -de -sac longer than 500 feet. There was no one present from the general public wishing to comment on this matter. Upon motion by Boss, seconded by McGraw, the public hearing was closed. McGraw introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 2013 -6 -115 — ADOPTING THE SUBDIVISION ORDINANCE RELATIVE TO CUL -DE -SAC LENGTH AS RECOMMENDED BY THE CITY PLANNER IN HIS JUNE 7, 2013 REPORT The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Montour.
