MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
May 3, 1990
SUBDIVISION
RAIOLO &
ENGEBRETSON
PROPERTIES
Leese asked that at a minimum the issues of traffic and
parking be addressed.
Drabik stated that she sympathized with the residents,
pointing out the effect the day care center is having
on the other property owners in the area. Drabik
pointed out that if approval is granted for the
conditional use permit, there could be 14 families
using the day care center in the future.
Hennessey pointed out that currently there are five
other families using the center besides herself.
Hennessey stated that she, too, sympathized with her
neighbors and will address the problem with the
parents. Hennessey stated that before this evening,
she was not aware of her neighbor's concerns.
Drabik asked if the number of cars or the traffic
speeds were the problem.
Carle stated that he could learn to live with the
numbers of cars, however, he cannot live with the
speeding up and down the street.
Hennessey reported that she has a waiting list of
parents who wish to use her day care center. Should
she have a problem with a parent who continues speeding
up and down the street, she could deny the use of the
center by that parent and easily fill the vacancy in
the center.
Costa recommended approval of a Conditional Use Permit
for 14 children in a day care center located in an R -1
area as requested by Anne Hennessey, 101 Yorkton Ridge,
subject to compliance with the recommendations of the
City Planner as contained in his report dated April 30,
1990.
Motion seconded by Herkenhoff.
Motion carried 4 - 1. Drabik voted against.
Mr. Steve Raiolo appeared before the Commission
requesting the subdivision of that portion of the
Engebretson property which is located south of
East Rose Place, and the combination of that piece with
his property. Raiolo pointed out that when East Rose
Place was improved, a small portion of the Engebretson
property was cut off on the southern side of the road
Page 5
