Eden Prairie
o Allows one freestanding sign per frontage.
o Setbacks are 20 feet from all lot lines.
o Additional signs (after first) are required to be smaller
(half size).
Shoreview
o Allows only one sign per center.
o Setbacks are 10 feet to any property line.
White Bear Lake
o Allows one sign per parcel or building.
o Setbacks must be at least 10 feet from all property lines.
o Freestanding signs may be allowed only on State or Federal
highways or high speed arterials with high traffic volume
and additional building setback (double adjacent buildings).
Maplewood
o Allows one freestanding sign per frontage.
o Minimum setbacks are 25 feet from the lot line.
Little Canada's Ordinance is the most liberal in this regard by
allowing five foot setbacks for freestanding signs. Those cities
with greater setbacks end up restricting sign placement more to
the interior of the lot. None of them defined sign placement by
proximity to a street or "frontage ". A shopping center such as
Rice at C would qualify as having two frontages in all surveyed
cities, regardless of the orientation of the building.
2
Page 113
