MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
March 8, 1990
Pedersen asked the weekend hours of the clearance
center.
Kaufman replied that the clearance center would be open
from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. on Saturdays and from 1 P.M.
until 6 P.M. on Sundays.
Drabik asked if the request met the requirements for a
Conditional Use Permit.
The City Planner replied that it was his opinion that
it did.
Garske stated that he believed there would be more
traffic generated from Pioneer Park than from the
Slumberland retail center.
DeLonais pointed out that there were citizens that also
objected to the park location.
The Planner pointed out that if Slumberland proposed
the space for additional office area, that amount of
area could hold 25 to 30 additional employees who would
be coming to and leaving the site during peak hours.
The Planner said the retail operation would only add
about 50 trips to the site per day, and these trips
would be spread out more evenly and less likely to
occur during the peak hours.
Costa asked if the entire building could be opened up
to retail.
The City Planner replied that another Conditional Use
Permit would be necessary, and pointed out that the
requirements of the I -P District put a cap on the
amount of retail that can be allowed.
Kaufman pointed out that the location is not a good
retail location and stated that if it were
Slumberland's intent to add a large amount of retail
space, they would like such a space adjacent to a mall
as they have done with their other retail operations.
Bendel pointed out that Slumberland has made a good
faith effort to comply with the City's requirements,
and felt the proposal should be approved if the
requirements of the Conditional Use Permit are met.
Bendel felt that traffic concerns of the Centerville
Road residents should be addressed by the City Council.
Page 5
