MINUTES <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />JANUARY 11, 1990 <br />The City Planner replied that decks are allowed to <br />encroach into the rear yard setback. <br />Drabik recommended that the Valento front yard setback <br />variance request be denied since there is no hardship <br />present to warrant granting the variance request. <br />Motion seconded by Bendel. <br />Motion defeated 3 to 3. Drabik, Bendel, Pedersen <br />voting in favor and Costa, DeLonais, Herkenhoff voting <br />against. <br />DeLonais recommended approval of a variance for a 31 <br />foot front yard setback for Lots 2, 3, and 4, Block 3, <br />Thunder Bay Estates 2nd Addition from the curbline, <br />which would be comprise of 6 feet from the curbline to <br />the right -of -way line and a 25 foot front yard setback <br />form the right -of -way line to the proposed homes. <br />Motion seconded <br />Motion defeated <br />voting in favor <br />against. <br />by Costa. <br />3 to 3. DeLonais, Costa, Herkenhoff <br />and, Drabik, Bendel, Pedersen voting <br />The City Planner suggested that the Planning Commission <br />could pass on the request to the Council without a <br />recommendation, and suggested that to do so a motion <br />should be passed stating that the Commission cannot <br />reach a concensus on this request. <br />Herkenhoff suggested that the matter be tabled until <br />Valento can appear and given the Commission some <br />additional reasons supporting his request. <br />The City Planner did not think Mr. Valento's appearing <br />at the meeting would produce any additional facts. <br />DeLonais recommended that the Valento variance request <br />be passed on to the City Council without a <br />recommendation. <br />That motion died for lack of a second. <br />Bendel recommended that the Valento variance request be <br />denied as presented, but indicating that the Planning <br />Commission is recommending that a compromise be <br />considered by the City Council. <br />Page 6 <br />
