MetroEast
January 31, 1990 Development Partnership
Mr. Joseph Chlebeck
City of Little Canada
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada MN 55117
Dear Mr. Chlebeck:
The MEDP is nearing the end of its third year. During that time the Partnership's programs and
membership have steadily grown. At the outset we intended the effort to be one of marketing and image
building. These goals were addressed through the development fair, the Metro East News, an advertising
campaign, and the development of award winning marketing materials. These efforts have succeeded in
giving the Metro East area an aggressive image with regard to business development.
As the Partnership grew, so did our programs. Today we have established relationships with brokers and
developers through formal call programs and informal contacts. We have become a recognized source of
business assistance through our Red Flag program. We have worked closely with several of our members
communities in their efforts to attract developments.
While the Partnership is entering its fourth year, it is still relatively young when compared with similar
organizations around the United States. We are currently in the midst of a strategic planning program that
will be our map for the next three years. The Fantus Company is helping us determine what role the
Partnership should take in the areas of business retention /attraction, small business development and image
marketing. We can assure you that this study will not change our mission of business development.
Rather it will assist us in focusing our efforts to be more successful.
The Management Committee is asking the members to continue to support the Partnership by renewing
your initial pledge for a fourth year. Your initial three year pledge was for $ 1000 annually. Since there
has been no increase in dues for three years, we are also asking that you consider increasing your pledge
by ten percent. Following the completion of our strategic planning effort in April of this year, the
Management Committee will solicit input and decide how the dues structure should be set for year five and
beyond.
We recognize that you may need more information before considering this issue. We would welcome the
opportunity to meet with you to discuss our request in more detail. If you feel that is necessary, please call
Tim Rogers to schedule an appointment, otherwise please confirm your renewal by signing the pledge card
and return it in the enclosed envelope.
Thank you for your past support and favorable consideration of this request .
Richard Wedell, Co-Chair
Mayor, City of Shoreview
oseph,I2ingm an , o- Chair
President, AmericaifNational Bank
600 North Central Tower 445 Minnesota Street Saint Paul, MN 55101 612 /224 -EAST Telex: 7401653 SPAC UC
Page 100
