MINUTES <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />February 8, 1990 <br />Drabik seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried 6 - 1 with Costa voting against. <br />Debbie Grams stated that she would be 'happy to attend a <br />future Planning Commission meeting to discuss TIF. <br />Pedersen suggested that this topic be scheduled for a <br />future meeting when the agenda is relatively light. <br />WELCOME TO On behalf of the Commission members, Bendel welcomed <br />GARSKE new member Garske as a member of the Planning <br />Commission. <br />OTHER DeLonais thanked the Commission for his nomination <br />BUSINESS and election as Vice Chairperson of the Commission at <br />the last meeting. DeLonais stated that he believed <br />politics played a part in the vote for Chairperson and <br />Vice Chairperson of the Commission last month, pointing <br />out that it is usual courtesy to recognize and elect <br />the senior members of the Commission to the positions <br />of Chairperson and Vice Chairperson. <br />DeLonais reported that Peter Costa has been appointed <br />by the City Council to serve 6 three -year terms on the <br />Planning Commission, while he is in his 17th year on <br />the Commission. <br />DeLonais stated that he would like to outline his <br />qualifications. DeLonais reported that he first became <br />involved when the City was in the process of developing <br />a Comprehensive Plan, and he and Costa attended many <br />district meetings on this issue. DeLonais reported <br />that his daughter has a master's degree in urban <br />planning, and he learned a lot about planning from her <br />books. DeLonais also reported that in the last five <br />years he has only missed one meeting. <br />DeLonais reported that he also serves on the City's <br />Economic Development Committee as a representative of <br />the Planning Commission. DeLonais reported that he is <br />happy to serve in that position, which he volunteered <br />to do so because no one else volunteered, and would be <br />happy to continue to do so unless someone else desires <br />the position. <br />DeLonais pointed out that he is the only member of the <br />Page 15 <br />
