MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
SEPTEMBER 13, 1990
right -of -way for Costa Lane to Allen Avenue and for
Desoto Avenue. The Planner pointed out that there is
currently 33 feet of road right -of -way width for DeSoto
Avenue.
DeBace reported that the City Engineer has recommended
that the City dedicate the additional 17 feet of road
right -of -way needed for Desoto Avenue. The
recommendation is that the City negotiate to sell this
right -of -way to the project and that the City
participate in the cost of the road improvement.
DeBace pointed out that storm sewer connections, catch
basins, as well as water stubs to the proposed lots are
also needed.
DeBace then reported that the City has the ability to
purchase the necessary road right -of -way for Costa Lane
to connect to Alien Avenue. Also, Mr. Clarence Bruehn
has indicated that he would be willing to sell his lot
to the project, and the needed right -of -way could be
taken from that lot.
Pedersen asked if walkway easements were being provided
to the park.
DeBace stated that the Council has dropped this idea.
DeBace pointed out that since Costa Lane would connect
with Desoto, there would be no need for access
easements.
Pedersen asked if at some point Costa Lane could be
extended to LaBore if there is the desire of the
property owners to the south for that connection.
DeBace pointed out that right -of -way would have to be
acquired from proposed Lot 1 of Costa Estates in order.
for Costa Lane to be extended south.
Drabik questioned the jog in the southern portion of
Costa Lane.
DeBace pointed out that the road is jogged so that all
the road right -of -way remains on the Costa property.
Drabik asked why a cul -de -sac was not proposed for
Costa Lane.
Page 2
