4 2cf14 C4ailal47
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Hanson and Members of the City Council
FROM: Dave Harris, Public Works Superintendent
DATE: May 17, 1991
RE: Shoulder Paving Agreement With Ramsey County
MAYOR
Raymond G. Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Bill Blesener
Rick Collova
Jim LaValle
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Ramsey County is doing an overlay project on County Road B
approximately 1,300 feet east of Rice Street to Edgerton
Street. They are proposing shoulder paving and are asking
the City to pick up 75% of the cost for paving the
shoulders on the Little Canada side of County Road B. I
have enclosed a copy of the agreement for your reference.
At this point in time, I see no benefit to the City of
Little Canada in making an expenditure of this nature since
most of the property that would be affected is City owned,
swamp land, vacant, or waterworks property. There is only
one residential home in Little Canada that would benefit by
the paved shoulder which is on the corner of McMenemy Road
and County Road B. I have also discussed this with Bill
Cass from the City of Maplewood and he too is making a
recommendation to advise against paving the shoulders as it
is an unneeded expenditure.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please
feel free to contact me.
DBH:kpv
Enclosures
ag"'61
