Salary range for full -- time.Director.. We are concerned that
the salary range previously established by the council ($26,000-
$34,000) may be inadequate sto.attrect.a'.Candidate with the
necessary qualifications to.effectively admminister the
department. We believe that the range should more closely match
what other cities our size.`are..payi:ng as evidenced by the
Stanton Report and should also:be'comparable to ranges
established for our public works super.intendent and building
official.
2. Program Fees. While an.increase in fees in certainly in
order, we believe it is important'to keep our fees competitive
with our immediate neighbors (Resev1.lie:"and Maplewood). Both
Roseville and Maplewood accept Littie..Canada residents into
their programs, and if our fees. .are significantly higher we may
see participation in our programs decline....We have studied the
recreation commitee's recommendation outlined in Joel Hanson's
memo dated 11 -21 -91 and offer :thefoliowing.alternative:
.. 1991
PARKS & RECREATION
Number of
Sport /Activity Participants..
T -Ball
Baseball
Softball
169
140
121
Fee
$10.00
35.00
18.00
Page 11
Revenue
$1,690
4,900
2,178
