PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES <br />Position: <br />Department: <br />Accountable To: <br />Primary <br />Objective: <br />Major Areas <br />of <br />Accountability: <br />Director of Parks and Recreation <br />Parks and Recreation <br />City Administrator <br />To plan, organize, and administer a quality Parks <br />and Recreation program which will provide facilities <br />and leisure time activities which meet the needs of <br />the citizens of Little Canada in an effective, <br />economic, and timely manner. <br />1. Plans, organizes, implements and evaluates a <br />wide variety of recreation, nature, and <br />education activities for all ages and for all <br />citizens. <br />2. Within the guidelines of the City's <br />Comprehensive Plan for Parks and Recreation, <br />develops long -range plans of Parks and <br />Recreation facilities to assure maximum <br />utilization of land, buildings, and money. <br />Periodically reviews Comprehensive Park Plan and <br />suggests revisions to the Park Commission. <br />3. Coordinates programming activities and maintains <br />cooperative relationships with adjunct community <br />groups and other agencies to enhance the City's <br />recreational programming needs. <br />4. Hires, trains, supervises, disciplines and <br />directs employees and volunteers under his /her <br />control. Reviews and evaluates the performance <br />of those departmental employees directly <br />responsible to him /her on a regular basis. <br />5. Supervises develops and maintains a program of <br />public recreational information which will keep <br />them informed of available facilities and <br />activities and fosters a good image of the <br />Department. <br />6. Jointly plans and coordinates the maintenance of <br />Parks and Recreation facilities with the Public <br />Works Director to assure attractive, safe, and <br />functional surroundings in an efficient and cost <br />effective manner. May also involve the <br />supervision of personnel to address specialized <br />needs. <br />Page 25 <br />
