MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
OCTOBER 10, 1991
Pedersen asked if the property could be designated open
space, but used as single - family. Pedersen was
concerned that anyone purchasing a property in the
future be made aware of the long -term use the City
establishes for that area.
RECESS
MINUTES
The Planner reported that the property could be
designated as open space on the land use plan, however,
prospective buyers will typically ask the zoning of a
property, and not what the Comprehensive Land Use Plan
says.
The Planner asked for time to research the various
options, however, noted that if the intent is for the
area to remain single- family, the PUD zoning would be
the best way to handle it. If the intent is for a
long -term use as open space, the Planner needed to
research this further.
Drabik asked about the County's plans for the road.
The City Planner reported that if the County needs
additional right -of -way from the south, the County will
have to buy the properties, and the property owners
would be compensated at fair market value.
Pedersen again stated that he would like the long -term
use as open space.
Herkenhoff stated that he had concern for the property
owners.
Garske stated that he had no problem with the residents
remaining in their homes, but would not support any new
construction. Garske stated that he had no objection
to the rebuilding of existing homes in the area if they
qualify under the City's existing codes.
After further discussion, it was the consensus of the
Commission that the long -range use of the area should
be open space. The Commission requested that the City
Planner come back with alternatives for achieving that
goal.
At this point in the meeting, 8:20 P.M., the Commission
took a short recess. The meeting reconvened at 8:25
P.M.
There being no corrections to the September 12th
minutes, they stood approved as read.
Page 10
