CITY OF MINNETONKA <br />Job Description / <br />JOB TITLE: Joint Recreation Director DEPARTMENT: Recreation <br />Department <br />,tiv Rant <br />:Salary 4 5414/9 <br />PAY RANGE: Unclassified <br />JOB SUMMARY: <br />This is a responsible supervisory and management position that <br />plans, organizes, coordinates and directs the activities of the <br />Joint City of Hopkins and City of Minnetonka Recreation <br />Department; the City of Hopkins Park Department; the Hopkins <br />Community Center; and performs other duties as assigned by both <br />cities. <br />JOB DUTIES: Joint Recreation Director: <br />(1) Plans, organizes, coordinates and directs the activities of <br />Joint City of Hopkins and City of Minnetonka Recreation <br />Department: <br />a) Appoints, through established personnel procedures, <br />trains and supervises, either directly or through <br />subordinates, all assigned recreational full and <br />part -time personnel. <br />b) Plans, organizes and directs a wide variety of recreation <br />activities for all ages and classes for all citizens on... <br />anY'equal'tass. <br />c) Develops and maintains both public and private moral and <br />financial support for those programs and services desired <br />by the citizens. <br />d) On a continuing basis, shall review and evaluate existing <br />programs and services to determine their effectiveness. <br />e) <br />Shall make recommendations on additions, deletions and /or <br />modifications on existing programs and services as well <br />as recommendations for new programs and services. <br />f) Shall prepare and present for review, an annual joint <br />operating budget for the ensuing year. Shall carry out <br />and implement the budget adopted by the applicable City <br />Councils. <br />g) Shall promote, establish and maintain a spirit of <br />cooperation in the sharing of facilities, programs and <br />services with adjunct cities and, in particular, with <br />Wayzata, Hopkins, and Minnetonka School Districts. <br />h) Establish and coordinate various recreational activities <br />with citizens' groups, civic organizations, personnel <br />from both cities and other governmental agencies. <br />Page 32 <br />
