MINUTF,S <br />Parks & Recreation Commission <br />Apri16, 2006 <br />,RVEY The Director stated that the Community Survey has been completed. A workshop with the <br />WORKSHOP City Council has been scheduled on Wednesday, Apri126, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. to discuss the <br />results. The Commission is welcome to attend. <br />ARBOR The Director stated that the Arbor Day celebration has been scheduled on Friday, A~ri121, <br />DAY 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Spooner Park's upper shelter. Arbor Day is actually on the 28", but in <br />order for St. Jolm's School to participate, we planned our celebration on the 2151. Commission <br />members are welcome to attend. Cookies and lemonade will be served. <br />NADEAU PK. The Director stated that he, and Bill Sanders, met with the Watershed District regarding <br />OBSERV. proposed plans for improvements to Nadeau Wildlife Park. The Watershed initially commented <br />DECK that they did not foresee any problems with the project. They will be visiting the site and will <br />report back to us with their findings. A neighborhood meeting will beheld prior to any work <br />being done. This project is scheduled to begin later this summer with completion in the fall. <br />The Watershed will also be looking at the proposed connection to Maplewood's park system <br />located east of LaBore Road near the power lines. A section of boardwalk is needed to cross the <br />wetland in this area. <br />PARKS TOUR The Director stated that every year during the summer months, the Commission visits various <br />parks in the City prior to their monthly meetings. This year's tours will begin next month. <br />Commissioners should meet at Little Canada City Center at 6:00 p.m., just before May's <br />monthly meeting. Sanders and the Director will put together a planned tour of areas that have <br />recently been discussed by the Commission. <br />COMP. PLAN This item was tabled until the next meeting. <br />REVIEW <br />OTHER The Director reported on the following items: <br />• The Watershed will be holding their open house tomorrow. A press release regarding this <br />event was distributed to all Commissioners. <br />• The City of Roseville will be participating in a walkable communities workshop on <br />Monday, May 8, 2006. The Director will attend this meeting. <br />• We were recently notified that an error was made in 1992 when the County gave us tax <br />forfeited property along Jackson Street that actually belonged to the railroad. Since then, the <br />City has placed a walking trail on the property. The City will be working with the railroad <br />to obtain an easement for this trail. <br />• The Ramsey County League of Local Governments will be sponsoring a presentation on the <br />influenza pandemic at Little Canada City Center on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. <br />This meeting is open to the public. <br />• Construction will begin soon on connection of the Water Works trail west of Country Drive <br />to Little Canada Road. Prior to the completion of this project, a nice 6-8" diameter oak tree <br />will have to be removed. A local contractor will use a large spade to relocate this tree to <br />Rondeau Park. <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />
