MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
MAY 14, 1992
Garske asked how Luciano attracted his buyers.
Luciano reported that he would advertise the vehicles
he has for sale in the newspaper. Luciano reported
that most of the time the vehicles would be sold from
his home on Sunday's.
DeLonais asked if there was a limitation on the number
of car sales permits in the City.
The City Planner replied that there was such a
limitation in the business districts, but accessory
retail sales in other districts, such as Industrial in
this case, was not limited. The Planner reported that
the City is researching the number of retail sales
licenses approved in Ryan Industrial Park. It appears
that there are three or four currently operating, but
this research is not yet complete.
Garske felt that the issue for the Commission to
discuss is what the City wants this area to become.
Garske expressed concern about a used car sales
business with balloons and banners.
The City Planner reported that the City could put
restrictions on signage, for -sale signs, etc.
Garske stated that if he owned a business within the
Park, he would not want to see retail traffic in the
Park. However, Garske noted that the businesses in the
area have been notified of the proposal, and there are
no representatives present.
Drabik asked if the fenced -in area behind Luciano's
building was gravel.
The Planner replied that it was, and gravel surface is
permitted for a storage area. Code requires parking
and driving areas to be paved and they are at this
particular property.
The Planner reviewed the site plan submitted this
evening by Mr. Luciano and indicated that it appears to
meet ordinance requirements. However, the Planner
recommended that any approval prohibit storage in the
front of the building as well as sales signs.
Page 2
