April 29, 1992 3
City of Little Canada
Note Architectural Field Report #13 dated 2/20/92 indicating all trades
at approximately 80% complete and an expected completion of three
weeks or 3/22/91. Field Report #14 shows 90% completion on 3/7/91
for the Addition. No interior work on anything but the entry was started
at this point. The City moved into the front portion of the Council
Chambers the week of 3/25/91, still down roughly the three week time
period.
At this point it was determined by both the City and the Construction
Manager that the City staff would only move once from their current areas
into the new area, but this would not occur until the new front arrived.
This process, although it would slow the completion of the remodeled
area, would be the best for the City and would not cause hardship on any
of the contractors and we could complete the remodel area "hand in
hand" with the finishes at the Fire Station.
Preliminary walk -thru was completed 4/15/92 with you and myself at the
new portion. Kraus- Anderson received your correction /punchlist dated
6/21/91 approximately four weeks from the scheduled completion.
Architect's final punchlist was not issued until 7/12/91 after your
relocation in the Addition.
This project did not meet the overall time frame as anticipated. Although
the Addition was approximately four weeks behind, the Fire Station was
still requiring Supervision due to time delays as indicated for that
project. Therefore we feel the time frame extension for Supervision as
projected since January 1991 and billed as of our final billing to the City
be approved without further delay.
I trust that you can see that these problems, all unrelated to Kraus- Anderson's
management of the project, caused total delays of approximately twelve to
fourteen weeks - -a huge amount of time on a six -month project. I hope that this
information will allow you to recommend approval of the additional fees for
which you have been billed.
Very truly yours,
KRAS -AN O► CON •UCTION COMPANY
ames D. Beckwith
Vice President
JDB:bb
Page 19
