As an organization based in City of Little Canada, we would
encounter innumerous obstacles to obtain a premises permit
in other municipalities. It is entirely possible other
cities would not grant us a permit.
Therefore, it is only fair and reasonable that we should be
treated and /or protected more favorably than non - residents
in our own municipality.
b. If the past is any indication, all three(3) charities
based in the City contributed far more to the community and
residents of the City than any non - resident. 100% of the net
proceeds of lawful gambling by the Fire Dept will be spent
as in the past, for the well -being and benefit of the City
residents.
2. The Fire Department should be the one permitted to operate
another Bingo night at the Hall for the following reasons:
a. As we have been conducting the lawful gambling at the
Hall since November of 1987, we are definitely interested,
willing, able and ready to conduct another night of lawqful
gambling, provided we can obtain a lease with reasonable
terms.(we have heard that the city council was informed by
certain parties that we were not interested in operating
another Bingo night, . but that is simply not true).
b. As you know, 100% of net proceeds generated from the
operation will be spent, as in the past, for the well -being
and benefits of the city residents.
c. Due to the just one -night a week operation at the
Hall, we are at an economic disadvantage compared to other
charities who operate two nights a week and are concerned
about the long- term viability of our operaion at the Hall.
However, two nights per week will enhance the future
viability of our operations significantly due to the
economic savings from the additional night per week.
d. As we understand, the other two City based organiza-
tions are supportive of our interest to add another night
of operation at the Hall.
Page 67
