MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
MARCH 11, 1993
EXTENSION OF
CUP FOR
MARKET PLACE
SHOPPING
CENTER
parking.
The Planner replied that
additional parking since
the existing site to add
the City could not require
there is inadequate space on
the parking.
Drabik asked if it were reasonable to allow the
property division by simple subdivision at this time.
The Planner felt the request reasonable given the
efforts to purchase the property to the north and
combine that site with the existing one.
Sloan reported that they hold a purchase agreement on
the site at this time.
DeLonais asked how many parking spaces would be added
if the property to the north is purchased.
Sloan replied that at least 50 spaces would be added as
well as a second access. Sloan did not feel that the
existing house on the site would necessarily be
removed.
Drabik recommended approval of the property division
for 203, 219, 221, and 223 Little Canada Road as
requested by Mike Crary, Quicksilver Company with the
indication from the Commission that it is their intent
to require platting of this property in the future when
the property to the north is acquired and combined with
this site.
Motion seconded by Keis.
Motion carried 6 in favor, 0 against, 1 abstained.
Carson abstained due to his involvement with
Olson - Thielen one of the property owners involved in
the transaction.
The City Planner reported that Twin City Federal has
requested an extension to the Conditional Use Permit
that was granted the Market Place Shopping Center to
allow a bingo hall at the Center should a bingo hall
license become available in the City. The CUP was
granted about a year ago, is about to lapse, and TCF is
requesting a one -year extension. The Planner reported
that the ordinance allows the extension of a CUP upon
evidence that the property owner has been attempting to
utilize it but has not been able to. The Planner
reported that he has talked with TCF as well as Mover's
Warehouse, and there has been some activity on the part
of TCF to utilize the CUP, however, there is no bingo
hall license currently available in the City.
Page 3
