MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
FEBRUARY 11, 1993
Linder's is interested in locating a flower mart at the
Market Place Shopping Center and have been negotiating
with TCF and Rainbow Foods. It is anticipated that the
flower mart would be operational from April 17th until
June 27th. After that time, the mart would be
dismantled and removed from the site.
The Planner noted that in response to his
recommendation regarding the setback of the structure,
Mr. Linder has submitted some additional location
options. It is Linder's preference that Option B be
approved, and the Planner indicated that this Option is
acceptable.
Mr. Linder pointed out that recommendations #1 and #2
of the Planner's report have been addressed by Option
B. Linder indicated that he was agreeable to
recommendations #3 and #4. With regard to
recommendations #5 and #6, the signs for the mart will
be exactly as shown, and the structure will have no
lighting. Linder reported that his hours of operation
would be 8 A.M. to 8 P.M. The height of the structure
will be 12 feet.
Keis asked if there were problems with vandalism at
these marts.
Linder reported that they have experienced only minor
vandalism.
DeLonais asked about watering the plant materials.
Linder replied that Rainbow has agreed to let them use
a water connection. Hoses would be used for watering,
and these hoses will be put away when not in use.
Garske expressed concern with additional requests of
this nature.
The Planner pointed out that additional requests would
be limited by the availability of sites that could
provide the necessary parking, etc.
Drabik recommended approval of the Conditional Use
Permit to allow for temporary outdoor sales and
displays at the Market Place Shopping Center as
requested by Linder's Greenhouses subject to compliance
with the recommendations of the City Planner as
contained in his February 8, 1993 report and subject to
Option B as submitted by Mr. Linder.
Motion seconded by Schletty.
Motion carried 5 - 0.
Page 3
Page 5
