MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
JULY 8, 1993
also pointed out that a walkway area on the south sides
of Lots 5 and 6 would require the removal of a great
many trees. Schletty felt that the boardwalk out into
the wildlife area was a better alternative. The
boardwalk would eventually be extended into adjacent
property should it become part of the City's park
system.
Garske asked if Schletty was concerned about people
parking on the cul -de -sac in order to use the
boardwalk.
Schletty did not anticipate a problem pointing out that
parking in the area has not been the problem it was a
few years ago since the streets nearest the beach area
were posted as no parking.
Keis expressed concern with the posting of this new
cul -de -sac as no parking.
The Administrative Assistant commented that the City
Council has typically considered requests of
neighborhoods to post streets as no parking when a
problem is occuring in a particular neighborhood.
Schletty reported that posting the street as no parking
is not being requested at this time. Schletty also
commented that his family is agreeing to donate $2,200
toward the cost of the boardwalk.
Garske suggested that the Parks and Recreation
Commission consider a cash donation and take that money
and use it in an area that will be used, rather than on
a path that goes to nowhere that will not be used.
Keis pointed out that people like to walk, and a
boardwalk across a swamp area would be a nice walk.
Garske suggested that the boardwalk be constructed when
the City has control of the additional land it needs so
that the boardwalk will go somewhere rather than just
be a short stretch.
Keis felt the boardwalk could always be added to.
Schletty reported that his family wants the walkway to
look good going by the proposed lots, therefore, his
family would like to put the walkway in. Schletty
pointed out that the plat contains 11 new home sites.
Drabik asked if there would be a trail connecting
Sunrise Drive to the new cul -de -sac.
Page 4
