MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
August 12, 1993
suggested that the turning radius on the curb was the
key issue. The Planner reported that MN DOT engineers
will look at the driveway width and turning radius in
addition to the length of the deceleration lane.
Knudsen asked why TCF was giving up two retail spots to
provide additional parking for Rainbow.
Chazin replied that in addition to the parking, removal
of the Burger King and Pizza Hut sites provides more
visibility for the shopping center.
DeLonais
property
The City
driveway
asked how close the driveway would be to the
line.
Planner replied that Code would allow the
as close as five feet to the property line.
DeLonais asked about snow storage.
Chazin replied that snow would be plowed in such a way
as to keep the area open and clear.
DeLonais stated that he would like to see the driveway
eight feet from the fence and the area between the
driveway and fence landscaped. DeLonais asked that the
fence remain two feet from his property line. DeLonais
reported that he would like to see the fence repaired,
as it is leaning into his property, and the fence
extended to the end of his property.
The Planner pointed out that the Code requires
screening from a residential use, and that the fence be
properly maintained.
DeLonais reported that he will be taking down 10 elm
trees in the front of his property, and that should
help the visibility of the shopping center.
Keis pointed out that screening is required, but asked
if the screening had to be landscaping or fencing.
DeLonais stated that he would prefer a wood fence as
screening.
The City Planner replied that a wood fence is the
standard approach in this situation.
Chazin stated that he would like the driveway located
five feet from the fence and indicated that he would
landscape the five foot area.
DeLonais stated that he would accept that.
