We have been in business approximately two and one - half years and are quite pleased with the success of our business at its current location. However, it has become abundantly clear to us that we are losing substantial business because we are not able to book banquets, weddings, parties and other special events due to our lack of an on -sale intoxicating liquor license. Many customers have told us that they would like to have special events held at our restaurant but choose other locations because of this lack of a liquor license. We currently have in effect a non - intoxicating wine and beer license that has been issued by the City. We have received and reviewed the applicable sections of the City Code regarding an on -sale restaurant intoxicating liquor license. Unfor- tunately, we believe that any application that we would submit for the on -sale restaurant license would not be approved because we have not invested a minimum of $750,000.00 into our leased space as is required by Code Section 703.030(1). We do understand, however, that this Code Section also indicates that applicants who have their business within shopping centers may be subject to a different set of considerations when determining the value of the investment. In conjunction with the liquor license application that is being submitted to the City Council for consideration, we wish to give the Council a more detailed explanation as to our wish for the use for the Page 2
