MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
SEPTEMBER 9, 1993
Candice Kapsner, 2455 Sunrise Drive, reported that she
supported saving as many trees as possible.
Keis asked if the driveway could be angled to save the
trees.
Howe reported
lot is on the
Lois Martin,
preferred to
that it could not given the fact that the
beginning of the cul -se -sac.
2460 Sunrise Drive, stated that she
see the trees saved as well.
Schletty reported that the original intent of the
Schletty Family when the Sunrise Drive extension was
platted was to keep as many trees as possible.
Schletty reported that this has not always been the
case, however, Schletty believed that Mr. Howe has made
every effort possible to save trees in the area.
Schletty also felt that the angle at which Howe is
proposing to set the house fits in which what is going
on in the neighborhood. Schletty indicated that he saw
no reason not to approve a variance on either the north
or the south of the lot.
Keis pointed out that the City Planner has not looked
at the variance in terms of the south.
Schletty pointed out that the house on the south is
placed over 10 feet from the property line, and it is
the garage that is located nearest the property line.
Schletty also indicated that it is a very difficult lot
to build a house on, and there are not a lot of options
for placement.
Keis suggested that the City Planner should look at the
issue of the variance on the south rather than the
north. Keis asked if there were any other options for
placing the house.
Howe reported that there were, but then the house
didn't fit property on the lot.
Keis asked that the property owner to the south be
notified that the applicant is now asking for the
variance to be located on the south.
Schletty recommended approval of a five foot setback
variance on the south property line of 2451 Sunrise
Drive subject to review by the City Planner of shifting
the variance from the north to the south, and
requesting City staff to notify the property owner to
the south of the change.
Motion seconded by Drabik.
Page 6
