Mayor & Council
October 7, 1993
Page 2
IV. Mobile Properties - automobiles, trucks, buses
V. Outside & Others - dumpsters, trash, grass fires
Relative to this category, inspections have been completed
in the new St. Jude facility and The Mayfield apartment
building. Also, inspections of the newly developed single
family dwellings have been completed. Other inspections
have been made in the mixed occupancy area as identified in
the list above which to -date totals 168.
Our primary goal would be the second section of this report
pertaining to the new fire inspection program. In
developing this program, a more thorough review will be
made of each building to identify any hazards that may
exist and formulate a plan of action regarding Fire
Department preparedness such as access, road hazards,
hydrant locations, and identification of hazardous
materials. By doing so, we will also be establishing a
record of inspections which has not been previously
accomplished. To do this, additional part -time fire
inspector(s) are needed. The end result of this program
will be a goal of 100% inspection compliance and the
knowledge that we have contributed to making our community
a safer place in which to live and work. I have already
begun this program. To -date, inspections are in process at
the following businesses:
Sailboard Warehouse
Slumberland
Wesco
Levitz
Budget Power
United Scientific, Inc
Farmer's Insurance
Rose Store
Sign Shop
Canabury Pond
Early Childhood
Trane, Inc.
Highlander Cleaners
Market Place
Graebel Movers
Rice Street Bicycle
. JTS Services
Gears Barber
Carlson Jewelry
Bakery Goods
Roseville Performing Arts
As I stated earlier, inspections have been occurring in the
past. However, the documenting of these inspections was
never accomplished; occasionally through correspondence. I
feel that the new inspection program should be
established. Reinspections should also occur on an annual
basis which would be a beneficial item not only for the
City of Little Canada, but also for the Fire Department.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, do not
hesitate to call me.
JP:kv
Page 45
