515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor & City Council
FROM: Kris VanSchoonhoven, Executive Secretary
DATE: December 2, 1993
RE: Business Licenses
MAYOR
Raymond G. Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Upon reviewing the Municipal Code, I found that the
business licensing periods for each type of entity the City
licenses is different. To simplify the annual licensing
process for the City and the affected businesses, I would
like the ordinance amended on some of the licenses to make
the licensing period commence on July 1 of each year
thereby making the licensing period for each business the
same. However, on taxicabs, I am recommending that the
license period start with the date of issuance.
We would also like to recommend that the annual license fee
for motor vehicle repair be amended from $10 to $25 so that
our administrative costs may be recovered each year. The
proposed $25 fee is the same as what we currently charge
for motor vehicle sales.
I have attached an ordinance outlining all of the above
changes and request that the Council adopt them.
kpv
Enclosures
Page 35
