MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
APRIL 14, 1994
during those hours. Haglund anticipated that the
vegetable sales would begin when corn and other produce
is available during the summer and go through pumpkin
season. There would be an employee at the truck
handling the vegetable sales. Haglund reported that
there would be no signs advertising the vegetable sales
other than a message on the reader board of the A & W
sign.
The City Planner reported that his concern is the limit
of the sales period so there is some method of control
and the City knows what to expect.
Knudsen asked what kind of truck would be used.
Haglund stated that the would be using a small pick -up
truck.
Keis asked if there were a spot for customers to the
vegetable area would park out of the way of A & W
customers.
Haglund replied that there was.
Schletty asked if there would be any lighting of the
sales area.
Haglund replied that the only lights would be those
that already exist for the A & W operation. With
regard to limiting the sales time, Haglund asked that
sales be allowed until vegetables are gone. Haglund
pointed out that the A & W is open until 10 P.M. in the
evening.
The Commission suggested that the same restrictions
that apply to the outdoor sales area at the Venetian
Inn apply in this case as well.
Haglund felt it very important to be able to sell the
produce through the dinner hour.
Davison recommended approval of the Conditional Use
Permit for outdoor sales and displays as requested by
Charles and Marie Haglund for the A & W at 3006 Rice
Street subject to compliance with the recommendations
of the City Planner as contained in his April 12, 1994
report, and subject to the same conditions that were
imposed on the Stafki Conditional Use Permit for the
11
