MINUTES
City Council
June 22, 1988
Edgerton &
LaBore Rd.
(Cont.
Softball
Field
Size
Agenda
Item No.
to 30 MPH and stop signs should be requested at the intersection.
Council felt that if the County refuses this request, which it has done
in the past, the request should then be made to either the State
Commissioner of Highways or Representative Don Valento.
Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 88 -6 -259 - REQUESTING THE
COUNTY TO LOWER THE SPEED LIMIT ON EDGERTON
TO 30 MILES PER HOUR IN VIEW OF THE RESIDENTIAL
GROWTH ON THE EAST SIDE OF EDGERTON AND THE
ADDITION TO THE LITTLE CANADA SCHOOL ON THE
WEST SIDE OF EDGERTON AND THE FACT THAT THERE
IS A SPEED LIMIT OF 30 MILES PER HOUR ON
EDGERTON SOUTH OF HIGHWAY 36, AND REQUESTING
TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT STOP SIGNS AT THE
INTERSECTION OF EDGERTON AND LaBORE ROAD DUE
TO THE INCREASED TRAFFIC VOLUME ON EDGERTON
BECAUSE OF CONSTRUCTION ON THE LITTLE CANADA
ROAD BRIDGE
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Blesener.
Ayes (4) Fahey, Blesener, Collova, Scalze.
Nays (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 19, Page 264.
Scalze reported on discussion between the Park Commission and Recreation
Association regarding size of softball fields in the Centerville Park
area. Scalze suggested that the Council review the minutes of the Park
Commission meeting for that discussion.
22b Scalze reported that the issue comes down to whether or not the City
should get involved in tournament softball. The Recreation Association
is recommending 300 foot softball fields and the Park Commission is
split on 280 foot fields versus 300 foot fields.
Council discussed the matter and it was the concensus of the Council
that it did not want to be involved in tournament softball.
Fahey stated that he was in favor of 280 foot fields if dual use
could be made of these fields with soccer fields. If an additional
20 feet was needed to provide dual use, than 300 foot fields were
acceptable to him. Otherwise, Fahey stated that he was in favor of
280 foot fields.
Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
Page -25-
Page 232
