MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
AUGUST 11, 1994
Buell replied that the tower would serve a 10 -mile
diameter area. The system does not interfere with
telephone or television transmission since it is at a
higher frequency.
Davison asked if there would be a light on top of the
tower.
Buell replied that a light is not needed since the
tower is only 100 -feet high. Buell also reported that
C -CALL would like to leave the tower unpainted since
they believe a galvanized tower is the least visible.
Carson asked if it were possible for C -Call to rent
space on the City's water tower.
Buell replied that they have very specific latitude and
longitude requirements, therefore, it would not be
possible to place their equipment on the water tower.
Water towers are their first location preference,
however.
Buell reported that C -CALL would be leasing the
property it needs at 39 West Viking Drive. The lease
would be a 25 -year lease which would run with the land.
The City Planner pointed out an error in his report.
The property at 39 West Viking Drive is used as a
contractor's office, not as a single - family home as
referred to in his report.
Buell pointed out that the surrounding property is
zoned B -3.
There was no one present from the general public
wishing to comment on this matter.
Garske asked if there was any concern with the City
having three of these types of facilities. Garske
asked if it would be possible to locate the facility on
the City's water tower.
Buell again stated that C -CALL prefers water tower
locations, however, the water tower would not work in
this instance because of very specific latitude and
longitude requirements.
Knudsen asked what the standard deviation would be.
10
