MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
AUGUST 11, 1994
CUP FOR
SPECIAL USE
FENCE -
CANABURY POND
Buell reported that C -CALL has a search area of 1 to 1
1/2 miles. C- CALL's acquisition people are instructed
to look first at water towers. Water towers are
preferred because the facility can be built faster.
However, Little Canada's water tower is not in the
right place.
The City Planner asked if there was anything in a 100
radius of the tower's proposed location.
Buell replied that there are no structures. Buell also
reported that the tower exceeds design requirements.
If a tower were to fall down, everything else would be
blown away so there would be nothing left to fall on.
Keis asked if the Commission wanted another tower in
the City.
Garske suggested that perhaps the City Council should
consider some type of fee for these towers asking if it
was a coincidence that Little Canada got all these
towers.
Knudsen felt a fee would be far - fetched, and suggested
that most other cities had these towers.
Garske replied that he has not seen such a tower in
North Oaks.
Carson recommended approval of the Conditional Use
Permit to allow construction of a 100 -foot tall radio
tower and maintenance building for essential services
as requested by C -CALL Corporation for property at 39
West Viking Drive subject to compliance with the
recommendations of the City Planner as contain in his
report dated August 5, 1994.
Motion seconded by Keis.
Motion carried 6 - 0.
Mr. Jim Lindman, representing the Canabury Pond
Homeowners Association, appeared before the Commission
requesting approval of a Conditional Use Permit for
special use fence to control access by geese to
Canabury Pond townhomes located at 175 East County Road
B -2.
